Aston Villa has just landed Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United! This move could really shake things up for both the club and Rashford’s career. The England star, now 27, is heading to Villa Park for the rest of the season, and Villa has the option to make it permanent for £40 million (€47.8m, $49.5m) this summer.
Villa will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s big wages, which could go up to 90% with performance bonuses. His contract at United runs until 2028, making him one of the club’s top earners at over £325,000 a week.
Unai Emery, who’s always been a fan of Rashford, pushed for this move, believing he can help the forward get his groove back. Rashford hasn’t played much for United lately, last appearing on December 12 in a Europa League match. His absence has been noticeable, especially with Amorim saying he won’t pick players who aren’t fully committed.

Rashford made it clear he wanted a new challenge back in December, catching the eye of clubs like Barcelona, Milan, and Borussia Dortmund. But it’s Villa that got him! With the team doing great in the Premier League and in the last 16 of the Champions League, he has a fantastic chance to shine. Plus, he can play in Europe for Villa, giving him a shot at the big stage again.
He could make his debut in claret and blue as soon as next Sunday in the FA Cup against Tottenham Hotspur or the following weekend in the league against Ipswich Town.
Villa is on a roll, boosting their attack with Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund. With Emi Buendía going on loan to Bayer Leverkusen and Jhon Durán sold to Al Nassr, they needed more firepower, and Rashford fits the bill. He can play all over the front line, giving Ollie Watkins some competition and adding width and energy.
For United, this is a big change from their past reluctance to loan players to rivals. The deal makes sense financially, as they can offset Rashford’s high wages and possibly make a nice profit if they sell him in the summer. If he gets back to his best, United could end up with a much more valuable player by the season’s end.
Emery is known for reviving attacking talents, having shown interest in players like Marco Asensio and João Félix. Now, Rashford is under a manager who knows how to bring out the best in forwards. The big question is: can he spark his career back to life in the Midlands? Villa fans can’t wait to find out!
