Man City and United Eye Dani Olmo Amid Registration Chaos

Barcelona’s financial crisis has made Dani Olmo a hot target for Manchester City and United!

Barcelona’s financial mess has opened the door for Premier League clubs, like Manchester City and Manchester United, to swoop in for Spanish star Dani Olmo. The midfielder could become a free agent in January after a local court rejected Barcelona’s attempt to re-register him for the second half of the season.

Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in a £50 million deal this summer, but La Liga’s strict financial rules only let him be temporarily registered until the end of 2023. With no solution in sight, Premier League giants are keeping a close eye on his situation, with City and United reportedly leading the charge for the Spanish playmaker.

Manchester City’s Interest Grows

City are particularly interested in the 26-year-old, who shone for Spain during their Euro 2024 success. Olmo’s creative flair and versatility would be a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s squad, especially as City’s midfield depth is becoming a concern while they aim to stay on top in England and Europe.

Olmo’s agent, Andy Bara, was recently spotted in Manchester, sparking rumors about ongoing talks. Bara, who helped City sign Josko Gvardiol for £77 million, has strong ties with the club.

Premier League Clubs Keeping an Eye

Meanwhile, Manchester United, eager to boost their attacking options, see Olmo as a solution to their creative struggles. With Jadon Sancho’s future uncertain and an over-reliance on Bruno Fernandes, United are keen to act fast if Olmo becomes available.

Arsenal might also make a move, as Mikel Arteta looks for reinforcements for their Premier League title push. With Bukayo Saka sidelined and Emile Smith Rowe struggling for consistency, the Gunners could join the race for Olmo’s signature.

While Olmo wants to stay with his boyhood club, Barcelona’s failure to meet La Liga’s financial rules has left his future up in the air. The Catalan side plans to challenge La Liga’s decision in court, but time is running out.

With Premier League clubs ready to pounce, January could see one of Spain’s brightest talents making the jump across the Channel.
