Chelsea kept their perfect start in the UEFA Conference League going strong with a fantastic 4-1 victory over Panathinaikos, making it two wins out of two! The Greek team, now with just one win in 19 matches against English clubs, couldn’t keep up with the firepower of Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Before the game kicked off, football took a backseat as Panathinaikos fans honored former player George Baldock, who sadly passed away earlier this month. The stadium turned into a sea of green as fans held up cards with Baldock’s number 32, followed by a heartfelt minute of silence. After that emotional moment, Panathinaikos came out strong. Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Filip Jörgensen, was put to the test early on, making an incredible one-handed save from Tin Jedvaj’s powerful header after a great corner by Filip Mladenović. Azzedine Ounahi also came close for the hosts with a long-range shot that just missed the mark.

But despite their early push, Chelsea struck first. João Félix put the Blues ahead in the 23rd minute, finishing off a quick pass from Mykhailo Mudryk. It was a tough blow for Panathinaikos after their promising start, but Chelsea’s sharpness in front of goal showed their class. Bartłomiej Drągowski, the Panathinaikos keeper, had to spring into action again, tipping over a long-range effort from Enzo Fernández.

Chelsea picked up right where they left off after halftime, doubling their lead just three minutes in. Mudryk, who assisted the first goal, got on the scoresheet himself with a powerful header from Pedro Neto’s perfect cross. Seven minutes later, Félix netted his second of the night with a shot that deflected off Nemanja Maksimović, leaving Drągowski with no chance.

The Blues kept dominating and were awarded a penalty when Daniel Mancini handled the ball in the box. Christopher Nkunku stepped up and coolly slotted it home, keeping his streak of scoring in every European game this season alive.

Panathinaikos managed to grab a consolation goal late in the game. Facundo Pellistri finished off a quick counter-attack, tapping in a cross from Georgios Vagiannidis at the far post. But it wasn’t enough to shake Chelsea’s strong performance. The defeat also ended Panathinaikos’ four-match unbeaten run at home, while Chelsea extended their unbeaten record against Greek teams to seven matches.

This win helps Chelsea bounce back from a brief two-match winless streak, and they’re now looking ahead with growing confidence in the UECL campaign!
