Arsenal Through to Quarter-Finals Despite PSV Fightback

Arsenal are through to the Champions League quarter-finals, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing against PSV! A heavily rotated Gunners side twice surrendered the lead as the Dutch outfit battled to a 2-2 draw.

Arsenal made it to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, but they had to work for it! PSV Eindhoven came back twice to draw 2-2. With a solid 9-3 aggregate win, Mikel Arteta’s team is still in the race for European glory.

After a strong first leg, Arteta switched things up and gave some players a chance. Oleksandr Zinchenko was one of them, and he didn’t waste any time! He got a pass from Raheem Sterling and fired a fantastic shot into the net—his first goal of the season in just his fifth start.

But Arsenal’s defense had a few hiccups. Johan Bakayoko missed a chance after a loose pass from Jakub Kiwior, and soon after, Ivan Perišić scored a great goal to level things up. PSV almost took the lead when Couhaib Driouech forced a nice save, but Arsenal bounced back. Myles Lewis-Skelly came close, hitting the post after a crucial touch from Walter Benítez. The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Sterling set up Declan Rice, who scored with a powerful header to put Arsenal back in front.

PSV didn’t give up, though! After halftime, Isaac Babadi’s shot needed a full-stretch save from Raya, and Joey Veerman was just inches away from another equalizer. At the other end, Riccardo Calafiori, working well with Kieran Tierney and Lewis-Skelly, was stopped by Benítez. But with 17 minutes left, Driouech scored a classy goal, lifting the ball over Raya to make it 2-2.

The Dutch side kept pushing, hoping to spoil Arsenal’s night. Babadi had one shot blocked, another saved, and Benítez frustrated Sterling at the end. Even though Arsenal missed out on a sixth straight Champions League win, they’re already looking forward to an exciting quarter-final against either Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid.

For PSV, this was a strong comeback after the first leg, and they can be proud of their fight. But the night belonged to Arsenal, who are still chasing their European dreams.
