Nottingham Forest put on an amazing counter-attacking show, smashing Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at Molineux and celebrating their sixth straight Premier League win!
Wolves’ new manager, Vítor Pereira, had a good start after Gary O’Neil left, but Forest, full of confidence, quickly messed up his plans. Just seven minutes in, the Tricky Trees struck! A fast break led by former Wolves player Morgan Gibbs-White quieted the home crowd as he teamed up with Anthony Elanga and finished coolly.
Even though Wolves fell behind early, they tried to fight back but kept missing chances. Hwang Hee-chan made a great run to set up Jørgen Strand Larsen for what looked like a sure goal, but the Norwegian couldn’t finish. A bit later, Rodrigo Gomes’ powerful volley was brilliantly saved by Forest’s goalkeeper Matz Sels, who stopped Strand Larsen again with a close-range save. Wolves’ missed chances hurt them when Forest doubled their lead just before halftime. Another quick counter saw Callum Hudson-Odoi zoom into the box and set up Chris Wood, who scored his 12th Premier League goal of the season.

At halftime, history was on Forest’s side. The Reds hadn’t dropped points from a 2-0 lead since 2022, and Wolves hadn’t come back from that kind of deficit since 2020. Wolves pushed hard after the break, but Forest’s defense, led by Sels and Nikola Milenković, showed why they have the best defensive record in the league.
Forest almost made it three when Elliott Anderson’s low shot went just wide. They controlled the game, leaving little chance for Wolves to bounce back. In the final moments, substitutes James Ward-Prowse and Taiwo Awoniyi teamed up for the Nigerian to tap into an empty net, wrapping up a perfect performance.
This big win puts Nuno Espírito Santo’s Forest level on points with second-placed Arsenal, with just goal difference between them. For Wolves, though, this loss puts them dangerously close to the relegation zone, with tough matches ahead—a big challenge for Pereira as he tries to lift his struggling team.
