Alexander Isak made his mark in Premier League history, becoming the seventh-fastest player to hit 50 goals as Newcastle United pulled off an exciting 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park.
What a night of drama on Tyneside! It only took seven minutes for the action to kick off. Callum Hudson-Odoi, back in the starting lineup after injury, seized on a mistake from Jacob Murphy and fired a stunning low shot past Nick Pope. Forest has been first to score more than anyone else this season (20 times), but they found themselves on the wrong side of history again—just like in the last match against the Magpies.
Newcastle quickly struck back. Teenager Lewis Miley, making his first Premier League start this season, showed amazing poise to score the equalizer after a set-piece scramble. Just two minutes later, Isak pulled off a cheeky backheel to set up Lewis Hall, whose deflected cross was perfect for Murphy to tap in.

Forest was still reeling when VAR stepped in to award Newcastle a penalty for Ola Aina’s handball. Isak took the shot, and even though Matz Sels got a hand on it, both the ball and the keeper ended up in the net. Isak was back at it moments later, with a shot that took a crucial deflection off Murillo, putting Newcastle in control before half-time.
Sels made a great save from Murphy to keep Forest in the game, but they didn’t give up. In the second half, Nikola Milenković pulled one back with a clever flick, and as the tension grew at St James’ Park, Ryan Yates scored from a goalmouth scramble to make it 4-3 with just minutes left.
Forest pushed hard for an equalizer, but the damage was done. Four goals conceded in a wild 11-minute stretch left them with too much to overcome, and Newcastle’s grit helped them secure a vital win. With this victory, Eddie Howe’s squad is still in the race for Champions League qualification, moving up to fifth and closing the gap on third-placed Forest to just three points.
