Manchester United is gearing up for a big move to shake up their struggling attack, with Marcus Rashford possibly being swapped for Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen.
The Red Devils are having a tough time finding their groove under Ruben Amorim, and the January transfer window is the perfect chance for a fresh start. Rashford, who used to be a fan favorite, has been on the sidelines lately, missing four straight matchday squads before making a quick return to the bench in United’s recent 2-0 loss to Newcastle.
Rashford has said he’s “ready for a new challenge,” but he wants to stay in a competitive league to boost his chances of getting back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad. He’s reportedly turned down three big offers from the Saudi Pro League and interest from Turkish clubs because he wants to compete at the highest level.
Enter Victor Osimhen, a striker who’s been lighting up the pitch since his loan to Galatasaray. The Nigerian international, valued at £62 million, has already netted 12 goals in 15 appearances this season, including a brace against Tottenham in the Europa League. His speed, strength, and skill have made him one of Europe’s hottest forwards.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte is said to be a fan of Rashford and thinks he’d be a great fit for his squad, which is currently in a title race with Atalanta. If the swap happens, Rashford would reunite with former United teammates Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay in Naples, adding some serious firepower to Conte’s title chase.
For United, Osimhen could be the long-term answer to their striker issues. Despite spending big in recent seasons, the Red Devils have only managed 21 goals in 19 Premier League games this term. Rasmus Højlund is still finding his feet in English football, and Joshua Zirkzee hasn’t made much of an impact in Amorim’s setup.
A swap deal would help United meet their immediate needs while also easing the financial strain by offloading Rashford’s hefty wages. He’s one of the club’s top earners, raking in around £315,000 a week, and his exit could help the team stay compliant with Profitability and Sustainability rules.
The players are reportedly surprised by Rashford’s exclusion, especially since he’s still the club’s joint-top scorer in the Premier League with four goals. But Amorim seems firm in his decision, stressing the importance of cultural and tactical fit within the squad.
Bringing in Osimhen would mark a new chapter for United, giving Amorim a proven goal-scorer to lead the attack. As the January transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Old Trafford to see if this exciting swap deal comes to life.
