Amad Diallo Hat-Trick Leads United’s Comeback Over Southampton

Diallo’s brilliance turned the tide as Manchester United staged a stunning comeback against Southampton. Three goals, relentless drama, and a hero’s emergence.
Man United vs Southampton

Amad Diallo stole the show at Old Trafford, scoring the first hat-trick of his career as Manchester United came back to beat Southampton 3-1. This win stretched United’s unbeaten streak against the Saints to 16 Premier League matches and bumped them up to 12th in the table.

Southampton, riding high after their FA Cup win over Swansea with new boss Ivan Jurić, started the match confidently. Kamaldeen Sulemana shined early on, dancing past Leny Yoro but getting denied by André Onana from a tight angle. The Saints kept pushing, with Tyler Dibling and Mateus Fernandes both coming close, though Fernandes’ big miss loomed large.

Just before halftime, Southampton’s hard work paid off. A corner from Fernandes caused chaos in the United box, and Dibling’s flick led to a deflection off Manuel Ugarte that finally beat Onana, even though he got a hand to it. Southampton deservedly went into the break ahead, showing energy and precision that kept United on their toes.

United manager Ruben Amorim made changes at halftime, bringing on Antony for Kobbie Mainoo. But Southampton still looked more dangerous, with Sulemana giving United’s defense a tough time and almost doubling the lead. United struggled until Amorim made another change, bringing on Joshua Zirkzee and Toby Collyer, which gave the Red Devils a boost.

Southampton’s failure to finish the game cost them. Amad Diallo, full of confidence lately, stepped up when his team needed him. A lucky bounce in the 82nd minute let the Ivorian score the equalizer, sparking hope at Old Trafford.

As the game wound down, Diallo struck again. He linked up perfectly with Christian Eriksen and fired in a powerful volley to complete the comeback, leaving Southampton stunned. With the visitors pushing for an equalizer, Diallo took advantage of a defensive slip in stoppage time, capitalizing on Taylor Harwood-Bellis’ mistake to seal his hat-trick in style and send the Stretford End into a frenzy.

For Southampton, it was a tough reminder of their road struggles, now winless in 18 Premier League away games. United, on the other hand, celebrated a long-awaited home league win, marking a big step forward in their quest to turn around a rocky season.
