Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United legend since he joined the academy at just seven, might be saying goodbye to Old Trafford. Rumor has it the Red Devils are open to “top offers” for the 27-year-old forward in the upcoming January transfer window.
Once seen as one of England’s brightest stars, Rashford has had a tough time finding his groove since his amazing 2022/23 season, where he scored a career-high 30 goals. Last season, he dipped to just eight goals and five assists in 43 games. This season, even though he’s shown flashes of brilliance under new head coach Ruben Amorim, he’s only managed seven goals and three assists in 23 matches for a Manchester United team sitting in 13th place in the Premier League.
According to Sky Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United thinks Rashford is “not unsellable” and might sell him either in January or the summer. A big reason for this is the club’s aim to boost their financial situation and deal with the tricky Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Since Rashford is a homegrown player, selling him would mean pure profit, which could really help the club stick to FFP regulations. Plus, the cash from his transfer could be used to strengthen the squad, especially in attack.
With his contract running until 2028, any sale would likely bring in a hefty transfer fee, and past interest from top clubs like Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich means there could be plenty of suitors.

Manchester United is already thinking ahead in case Rashford leaves. The club has reportedly set its sights on several attacking targets, including:
With 425 senior appearances for Manchester United, Rashford has netted 138 goals and provided 67 assists, playing a key role in the club’s success over the years. He’s helped United snag five major trophies, including two FA Cups and a Europa League title.
But with the club rebuilding under Amorim and a clear need for fresh attacking options, Rashford’s time at Old Trafford might be coming to an end.
