Liverpool showed off their Premier League title chops with a solid 4-1 win over Ipswich Town at Anfield, stretching their unbeaten run to 18 matches. The Reds are now six points clear at the top, proving they’re in fantastic form this season.
The home team wasted no time taking charge, eager to avoid conceding first like they had in their last three home games. Their efforts paid off early when Ibrahima Konaté sent a perfect pass to Dominik Szoboszlai just outside the box in the 11th minute. The Hungarian midfielder curled a beautiful left-footed shot into the bottom corner, scoring his fifth league goal of the season.
Things got worse for Ipswich when winger Wes Burns had to leave the game with a serious knee injury, making it tough for Kieran McKenna’s squad to keep up with Liverpool’s fast pace. The Reds doubled their lead 10 minutes before halftime when Cody Gakpo delivered a flawless cross for Mohamed Salah, who controlled it like a pro before blasting it into the roof of the net.
As halftime neared, Gakpo added to Liverpool’s dominance by capitalizing on a rebound from Szoboszlai’s shot, becoming just the third Dutch player to score in five straight Premier League home games, joining legends Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robin van Persie.

After the break, Ipswich focused on damage control, but Liverpool kept pushing. The Tractor Boys finally got their first shot on target in the 60th minute, a weak attempt from Omari Hutchinson that Alisson easily saved. Moments later, the Reds extended their lead again. Trent Alexander-Arnold sent in one of his signature pinpoint crosses, which Gakpo headed in for his second goal of the match and eighth of the league season.
Alexander-Arnold almost added a fifth for Liverpool, just missing with a long-range shot and later hitting the post. Despite those near misses, Liverpool comfortably secured their second home win by at least three goals in their last 17 league games, showing their dominance at Anfield.
Ipswich managed a late consolation in the 90th minute when Jacob Greaves headed in from a Julio Enciso corner, saving them from a third straight defeat without scoring. However, the loss leaves Ipswich dangerously close to the relegation zone, tied on points with Wolverhampton Wanderers but ahead on goal difference.
Liverpool’s impressive win cements their status as the team to beat this season. With their unbeaten streak going strong and their attack firing on all cylinders, they’re the Premier League leaders. Meanwhile, Ipswich needs to regroup fast as they fight to stay out of the drop zone.
