Leicester’s Dramatic Comeback 3-2 at St. Mary’s

Leicester City pulled off an exciting 3-2 comeback against 10-man Southampton at St. Mary’s, denying the Saints their first Premier League win of the season.

Leicester City pulled off an amazing comeback to beat Southampton 3-2 at St. Mary’s, turning a two-goal deficit into their second Premier League away win in the most thrilling way! Meanwhile, Southampton is still on the hunt for their first top-flight win in 21 games, even though they looked pretty solid for most of the match.

Russell Martin’s squad came in eager to snap their winless streak and wasted no time showing their determination. Just minutes in, Southampton almost scored when Joe Aribo’s header hit the crossbar. Moments later, Cameron Archer found the net with a low cross from the left, giving Southampton an early lead. That was Archer’s second goal of the season, and it marked the eighth time Leicester has conceded the first goal in the first half-hour this season.

After falling behind for the fifth time this campaign, Leicester started to find their rhythm. But just as they were getting back into it, Southampton struck again. Aribo, making up for his earlier miss, fired a low shot past Mads Hermansen after a fantastic pass from Kyle Walker-Peters. The Saints were in control, and St. Mary’s was buzzing with hopes of their first win of the season. Bilal El Khannouss almost pulled one back for Leicester before halftime, but his curling shot hit the post, leaving the Foxes with a mountain to climb in the second half.

The introduction of Issahaku Fatawu after the break turned the tide for Leicester. The young Ghanaian was key in sparking the comeback, assisting Facundo Buonanotte’s goal just before the hour mark. Buonanotte, perfectly positioned in the box, slotted home Fatawu’s cross, keeping Leicester’s impressive scoring streak alive—scoring in every game this season, just like Manchester City and Arsenal.

With Southampton feeling the pressure, things got worse when Ryan Fraser got a straight red card for pulling Jamie Vardy’s shirt in the box, giving Leicester a penalty. Vardy, always reliable, coolly sent Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way to equalize.

Just when it looked like the points would be shared, Leicester completed their comeback in style. Deep into stoppage time, Jordan Ayew seized a loose ball and fired a low shot into the bottom corner, igniting wild celebrations from the visiting fans. Southampton, who had seemed so comfortable in the first half, were left regretting their collapse as they extended their winless streak to 21 Premier League games.
