In a thrilling Premier League showdown, West Ham United snagged a 2-1 win over Manchester United, marking their third straight league victory against the Red Devils at the London Stadium. Jarrod Bowen’s penalty in the 92nd minute was the game-winner, leaving Erik ten Hag’s squad with just one win in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Right from the start, Manchester United was on the attack, eager to shake off their scoring slump after failing to find the net in their last two visits to West Ham. Alejandro Garnacho nearly got things rolling early on, his powerful shot hitting the crossbar. The young Argentinian was a constant threat, celebrating his 100th senior appearance with energy but missing that final touch.

Chances came pouring in for United. Rasmus Højlund tested Łukasz Fabiański, who was back in goal for West Ham, while Bruno Fernandes wasted a golden opportunity to score against the Hammers. Diogo Dalot had the biggest miss of the half, shooting over the bar after rounding Fabiański with an open goal in front of him. The only slip-up from the veteran Polish keeper was a misjudged punch that sent a Christian Eriksen corner crashing off the crossbar, but United couldn’t take advantage.

West Ham managed just one attempt before halftime, frustrating manager Julen Lopetegui, who made a bold triple substitution at the break. The Hammers’ changes brought them back into the game, though both Michail Antonio and Højlund had solid chances to tip the scales.

Finally, one of Lopetegui’s subs broke the deadlock, with Crysencio Summerville scoring after a messy exchange with Bowen and Danny Ings. A blunder by the Hammers almost let United back in, as Casemiro capitalized on a defensive slip to nod home and level the score.

Just when it looked like a draw was on the cards, drama unfolded. Matthijs De Ligt was called for a foul on Danny Ings, despite a possible handball in the buildup. After a lengthy VAR review, Bowen stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, securing West Ham’s first back-to-back home league wins since December and deepening the woes of Ten Hag’s struggling United.
