West Ham United cruised to a solid 2-0 win over a struggling Leicester City at the London Stadium, marking their first victory against the Foxes since August 2021. With 11 losses in their last 12 Premier League games, Leicester’s hopes of staying up are hanging by a thread.
Leicester came into the match with the second-worst defense in the league, and it showed. Midway through the first half, Tomáš Souček jumped on a rebound after Mads Hermansen stopped Mohammed Kudus, putting the Hammers ahead. The Leicester defense just stood there, and Souček happily tapped it in.

West Ham rarely faced any trouble and added another goal before halftime, thanks to a bit of luck. Jarrod Bowen’s shot took a nasty deflection off Jannik Vestergaard, leaving Hermansen stranded and making Van Nistelrooy’s halftime talk a tough one. Surprisingly, the Dutchman didn’t make any quick changes, only bringing on Harry Winks and Stephy Mavididi after the hour mark in a last-ditch effort to wake up his team.
After the substitutions, Leicester did show a bit more attack, with Vestergaard forcing a rare save from Alphonse Areola, but it was just a brief moment of hope. West Ham’s defense held strong, and Areola wasn’t really tested as the hosts wrapped up the win easily.
For Graham Potter’s team, back-to-back clean sheets and two league wins in a row for the first time since March are a big boost, lifting them to 15th in the table. Meanwhile, Leicester is still five points from safety, and with confidence low and time running out, Van Nistelrooy has a tough job ahead to save their season.
