Pep Guardiola is going through a tough time as Manchester City gears up for a big derby against United at the Etihad. With seven losses in their last 10 games, City’s form has hit a low not seen during Guardiola’s time. Just to give you an idea, it took him 105 matches to rack up that many losses before.
Even with this rough patch, Guardiola insists he hasn’t lost the locker room. He believes his players are still united and committed. “The important thing is how we are inside,” he said. “How the players and staff feel. If I ever feel I’ve lost the team—that they’re not running or following me—I’ll leave right away. But that’s not the case now.”

Guardiola was pretty open about the situation, admitting things might get worse before they get better. “If you’d told me a month ago, when we were unbeaten and on top of the league, that we’d lose seven of the next 10, I’d have thought you were nuts,” he said. “But it’s happened, and maybe we’ll lose more.”
Right now, the reigning Premier League champs are eight points behind leaders Liverpool, having played one more game. Guardiola has already given up on the title, saying his team has defensive issues. “We don’t have a defense, my friends,” he confessed. “All the criticisms are deserved.”
Now the big question is whether Guardiola, known for his tactical smarts, can rally his team for one of the fiercest derbies in football. For the fans, and maybe for Guardiola too, the result against their rivals could be a game-changer for City’s season.
