Nottingham Forest snagged their fourth straight Premier League win, beating Tottenham 1-0 at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest vs. Tottenham

Nottingham Forest kept their awesome Premier League run alive with a tough 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at the City Ground on Boxing Day. This win marked four straight victories for Forest and added to Spurs’ struggles, as they’ve lost four out of five matches against teams in the top half.

Matz Sels was the star early on, making a fantastic save to stop Son Heung-min’s shot from the edge of the box in the first five minutes. Brennan Johnson almost scored for Forest, but Sels was there again to keep the visitors from scoring. Forest, who were happy to soak up the pressure and hit back on the counter, found the goal just before the half-hour mark.

Morgan Gibbs-White sent a perfect pass to Anthony Elanga, and the winger calmly slotted it home for his third goal in three games, sending it past Fraser Forster and into the bottom corner.

Spurs fought back hard, with Johnson forcing another great save from Sels, and Son hitting the side-netting from a free-kick. The home team weathered the storm and started to look more dangerous early in the second half. Forster had to make a good stop to deny Gibbs-White, but Spurs had their chances too, with Johnson turning quickly and going one-on-one with Sels, only to be stopped again by the Forest keeper.

As the match got more exciting, Nikola Milenković headed over from a corner, and substitute James Maddison shot wide with his weaker left foot. Forest stayed strong on defense, and even with the pressure from Spurs, they held on to grab all three points.

This win pushes Forest up to an amazing third place in the table, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo getting a win over his old team. Meanwhile, Spurs, under Ange Postecoglou, have to think about a disappointing game as they sit in the bottom half of the standings.
