Pedro Neto’s first Premier League goal for Chelsea helped secure a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in a nail-biting London derby at Stamford Bridge. This result means Arsenal’s winless league streak stretches to four games, while Chelsea holds on to third place.
The match kicked off with both teams knowing how tight the competition was, as they were level on points in the league table. The first half was pretty even, with neither side really taking control. Chelsea put some early pressure on, forcing David Raya to make a save when Cole Palmer took a shot from distance.
They had a golden opportunity to score when Malo Gusto headed over a perfectly placed Neto cross from close range. Arsenal had their own chance too, with Gabriel Martinelli finding a gap in Chelsea’s defense, but his shot lacked power and was easily caught by Robert Sánchez. Later on, a clever free-kick from Declan Rice found Kai Havertz, who slotted the ball into the net, only to be flagged offside, leaving the score at 0-0 at halftime.

The second half started off a bit slow but got exciting when Noni Madueke sent in a dangerous cross that Wesley Fofana sent over the bar. Arsenal finally broke the deadlock around the hour mark, with Martin Ødegaard setting up Martinelli, who slotted it home at the near post. But Chelsea wasn’t going down without a fight! Just 10 minutes later, Neto cut inside and fired a low shot past Raya to equalize.
Chances were hard to come by in the closing moments, with Nicolas Jackson’s goal being ruled offside for Chelsea and Sánchez making a key save during Arsenal’s last push. In the dying seconds, William Saliba’s low cross almost found Kai Havertz, but Leandro Trossard’s interception ensured the points were shared.
Chelsea has now stretched their unbeaten run to nine matches, but they’re still looking for a win against Arsenal since 2021. Meanwhile, Arsenal finds themselves nine points behind league leaders Liverpool, still trying to find their form with their last away league win dating back to mid-September.
