West Ham United handed Arsenal a tough blow in their Premier League title chase with a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium, ending the Gunners’ impressive 15-game unbeaten home streak and leaving their silverware dreams a bit shaky.

Even with Liverpool slipping up recently, Arsenal just couldn’t take advantage, looking a bit flat and disjointed in the first half. Their best chance came from Riccardo Calafiori, whose weak shot from the edge of the box was easily saved by Alphonse Areola. West Ham, on the other hand, looked more threatening, with Tomáš Souček missing two headers and Jarrod Bowen just missing the target with a close-range effort.

The deadlock broke just before halftime when Bowen connected with Wan-Bissaka’s cross, diving in for a header that sent the traveling fans wild and left Arsenal stunned. Bowen almost added another right after the break but couldn’t quite connect with another dangerous ball.

Feeling the pressure, Mikel Arteta made some early subs, which sparked a brief wave of attacking play. Leandro Trossard came closest to equalizing, but his clever reverse shot was expertly saved by Areola’s leg.

Things took a turn for the worse for Arsenal in the 70th minute when substitute Myles Lewis-Skelly, who recently had a red card overturned, made a rookie mistake. He brought down Mohammed Kudus as the last man, and after a VAR check, his yellow card turned red, leaving the Gunners in a tough spot.

Even with ten men, Arsenal pushed for a goal but just couldn’t break through West Ham’s solid defense. Graham Potter’s team, deserving winners, celebrated just their second away win in eight matches.

This defeat leaves Arsenal eight points behind Liverpool, and with the Reds set to face Manchester City at the Etihad tomorrow, that gap could widen to 11 points—a tough hill to climb in the title race.
