Arsenal and Man United Share the Points at Old Trafford

A night of fine margins at Old Trafford! Arsenal dominated early but found themselves behind to a Bruno Fernandes stunner before Declan Rice struck back.
Arsenal draw with Man United

Arsenal came back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford. This marks the second straight Premier League match between these teams that ended in a tie. The result helped Erik ten Hag’s squad avoid a fifth straight league loss in this matchup, while Mikel Arteta’s team dropped more points in their title chase.

Feeling good after their midweek win over PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal started strong and almost scored early when Mikel Merino’s shot curled just wide in the 10th minute. They controlled the ball and tested United’s defense but struggled to create clear chances. Martin Ødegaard had a long-range shot saved by André Onana, and Thomas Partey and Leandro Trossard also tried their luck from distance. Despite Arsenal’s dominance, it was United who struck first just before halftime. Alejandro Garnacho won a free-kick in a dangerous spot, and Bruno Fernandes nailed a stunning shot into the top corner with United’s first shot on target.

In the second half, 18-year-old Ayden Heaven made his Premier League debut against his old club after moving to United from Arsenal in January. The young player fit in quickly, helping his team withstand an Arsenal attack. The Gunners kept pushing with set-pieces, with Ødegaard and Declan Rice both testing Onana. At the other end, United’s wing-backs teamed up as Diogo Dalot set up Noussair Mazraoui, whose powerful shot forced a great save from David Raya. Joshua Zirkzee then came close with a quick flick, but Arsenal’s hard work finally paid off. Rice, known for big moments, connected with Jurriën Timber’s pass and fired a precise shot in off the post.

Arsenal pushed for a winner, but Onana’s late save denied Gabriel Martinelli and kept United level. At the other end, Rice and Gabriel Magalhães made key blocks to stop Rasmus Højlund from snatching all three points, while Raya pulled off a fantastic save to keep out Fernandes in stoppage time.

The result leaves Arsenal 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool, while United’s third draw in four games moved them up a spot in the table. With both teams struggling to find their rhythm, it was another frustrating night for two clubs with bigger dreams.
